Honored blackpowder shooters

We are very pleased that you have shown interest in joining us on Gotland for the VIII NatWest Island Games.

These are the rules for our three classes:

Class 4: Whitworth (Percussion rifle, other)
Shooting distance: 100 m.
Target: International UIT 50 m precision
Position: Lying
Rifles: Unaltered original percussion rifles and military rifles of a calibre less than 13,5 mm (.5315 in.) or reproductions thereof. Also Allowed in this class will be weapons belonging to classes 1, 2, and 3, i.e. all flintlock muskets and military percussion rifles of a calibre larger than 13.5 mm.
Sights: Must correspond with the fabrication period of the original.
Peephole sights: Permitted, if they correspond with the fabrication period of the weapon.
Bore: Rifled
Calibre: No limit.
Bullet: Round ball, Minie´- or compression bullet and Maxi-ball (Wadcutters and pre-rifled bullets are not allowed)
Wiping: Permitted between each shot.
Scoring: Best 10 from 13 shots to count. 50% over the line to count high.
Course of fire: One card in 30 minutes.

 

Class 12: Mariette (Percussion revolver)
Shooting distance: 25 m
Target: International UIT 50 m precision
Position: Standing
Pistols: Reproductions of unaltered historic chamber loading blackpowder revolvers. Originals are also permitted.
Sights: Must correspond with the original. Intl. MLAIC apply.
Bore: Rifled
Calibre: No limit.
Bullet: Round or conical.
Wiping: Permitted between each shot.
Scoring: Best 10 from 13 shots to count. 50% over the line to count high.
Course of fire: One card in 30 minutes.

 

Breech loaded blackpowder rifle
Shooting distance: 100 m.
Target: International UIT 50 m precision
Position: Lying.
Rifles: Breech loaded and cartridge loaded blackpowder rifles.Unaltered originals or reproductions.
Sights: Must correspond with the fabrication period of the original.
Peephole sights: Permitted, if they correspond with the fabrication period of the weapon.
Bore: Rifled
Calibre: No limit.
Bullet: Must be of priod model, jacketed bullets or gaschecks not allowed. Paper wrapped bullets are allowed.
Wiping: Permitted between each shot.
Scoring: Best 10 from 13 shots to count. 50% over the line to count high.
Course of fire: One card in 30 minutes.

Gunpowder suitable for pistols and rifles will be available at the shooting range. Those who wish to bring their own powder are of course allowed to do so. All kinds of black powder and Pyrodex will be allowed.
