Gotland extends a big welcome to all athletes competing in
NatWest Island Games 1999

Athletics, in these Games, is the largest division when it comes to participation, almost 300 men and women.

All the Athletic competitions will be held in Visby. The stadium’s name is "Gutavallen" and is centrally located just outside the old city’s wall.

About Gutavallen
The area has an all weather range and is covered with ‘Skansport’™. A new surface was laid during summer 1998. Spikes should not be longer than 6 mm (about ¼ inch).

We hope everyone will be pleased with the stadium even though there will be some construction work being done during the competitions because of the fire we had last summer.

Half Marathon
The course for the half marathon is beautifully laid out. The route is, for the most part, by the coast. For outline of route, click here.

Secretariat office
The secretariat office will be in "Solbergaskolan" (Solberga school) which is in direct connection to the stadium on the north side. There will be signs directing the way.

Technical meeting
A Technical meeting will take place Saturday, June 26th at 17.30 hrs. at the Secretariat. All main officials should attend.

Rules
The International Athletic Association rules, IAAF’s rules will be observed.
