Opening Ceremony
At the Opening Ceremony, June 26th there were 5.500 spectators, including the 1.858 participants.

Press covering the games
More and more journalists are arriving every day. Now we have 165 accredited journalists, 62 of them from Gotland. This figure of course includes journalists, photographers, television technicians, and so on. At present we have 13 television teams and nine radio stations covering the NatWest Island Games. We do not know exactly how many newspapers are here, since several journalists write for more than one paper. All islands except Sark, Angelsey and Ynys Mon have at least one journalist on Gotland.

There is now an updated telephonelist available at the press center, with numbers to all the arenas. When you go there, the contact persons for the press is wearing an orange ribbon around one of their arms.
