Practical information on Gotland

General view over accessibility to locations such as toilets and parking in Visby to movement impaired persons.

The old town of Visby (inside the walls) is from medieval times, which means many buildings are not amicable to anyone who is handicapped in any way. Narrow doorways, stairs and steep streets with rounded cobblestones make access limited.

Outside the walls, on the other hand, there is Östercentrum (East centre) with a shopping centre, post office, banks and other public buildings There is easy access most everywhere to anyone who is sitting in a wheelchair.

There are several toilets that are adjusted to handicapped persons around Visby and the handicapped sign is placed in front of most public buildings to ease parking.
